35"long, 8" wide (at the widest), fingerboard 1.5"
It bears the label
Gio: Battista Fabricatore
Napoli Anno 1795 in
in S. M. dell' Ajuto.n.52
Restored to near perfect museum quality.
All cracks are properly sealed and flushed and nearly invisible unless carefully examined.
Touch up finish has been applied ever so lightly.
Pictures reveal some further cleaning could be applied on top.
The bridge and ornamentation appear periodesque although there are some indications that the bridge may have been moved further back.
All pearl ornamentation is intact although some pieces look newer in a few spots.
Action is within acceptable range for playability in the lower positions and the previous owner found the action acceptable
However, the possibility of lowering the action to play higher on the neck is achievable with minor adjustment by a competent luthier either by (1) lowering the height of the holes at the bridge,(2) applying a heat bend or (3) applying a neck set on the heel as it is a non-Spanish heel)
The tone is warm and baroque.
As was done in the time of Fabricatore, the inside of the guitar is lined with parchment.
